CCLF provided DL3 Realty with an $850,000 predevelopment loan for the construction of a Jewel-Osco grocery store and pharmacy in Chicago’s Woodlawn community. The 48,000-square-foot full-service grocery store erases a food desert that had not seen such a store open in Woodlawn in 40 years. The store provides easily accessible fresh foods and a variety of services to the community, and also created 200 new jobs filled by area residents.

CCLF provided The Sugar Beet Food Store Cooperative with a $400,000 construction loan for Sugar Beet in Oak Park. The member-owned grocery store provides access to local food, positive programming and community-building opportunities that inspire people to choose local and sustainable food. The store also created 20 new jobs filled by area residents.
